How to Reinstall the Operating System on Your VPS

If you need to start fresh or change your server's distribution, you can perform a full operating system reinstallation directly through the Virtualizor Enduser Panel.

Warning: Reinstalling your operating system will permanently erase ALL DATA stored on your VPS. Ensure you download off-site backups before proceeding.

Reinstallation Steps

  1. Log in to your Client Area and navigate to Services > My Services.
  2. Select your active VPS.
  3. In the left sidebar menu under Virtualizor, click Enduser Panel.
  4. Inside the Virtualizor panel, click the Install / OS Reinstall icon.
  5. Select your desired Operating System (e.g., Ubuntu, AlmaLinux, Debian, or Windows Server).
  6. Enter a strong New Password for your root or administrator account.
  7. Click Reinstall and confirm the prompt to initiate the installation process.

Important Notes Post-Install

  • Time Required: The reinstallation process typically takes 3 to 10 minutes depending on the OS image chosen.
  • Status Monitoring: Do not execute power commands or force a restart while the status indicates installation is in progress.
  • SSH Keys: The server's SSH fingerprint will change upon a clean install. If you connect via SSH, you will need to clear the old host key from your local known_hosts file.
